The (Womb) Wound Must Be Honored: This is a painting regarding the subject of female genital mutilation. I was inspired by my friend, whom was a victim. I wanted to give her a piece that would speak to her experience, as well as illustrate to others the glaring reality of an often taboo issue. This is specifically about honoring women, and recognizing their long-suffered wounds, emotional as well as physical. It is about gaining a level of visibility for these women, and ultimately giving them a voice.

You Own Nothing: This painting is a statement, which I see as an awakening. It involves recognizing that I am the only one who can claim ownership of my body and my sexuality. It is a message of personal empowerment, while also serving as a reminder of my own intrinsic value.
