  • Dear Dorothea Czarnechi,

I feel like sharing the poem with you that I had written in 1972.

    CHIMES
    by Steven Adam ‘Joaquin’ Drake

I saw you hanging from a string
A piece of glass in my dream…
For I was one chime and you were too
And the wind blew me next to you.

The sound of chimes could be heard
Soft as a whisper or the wing of a bird.
    And our love shall endure…
As long as the wind blows that’s for sure!

    But everything physical eventually dies
And so can the world before your eyes.
But as long as we hang on to that string
Our love shall remain a constant thing.

So never, never try to hide
But make up your mind and be by my side.
And when you do the wind will continue
To blow me next to you.

Or you may become fragile and eventually
Break and a new world you’ll undertake.
    But perhaps to your surprise
You will see me with different eyes.

But the feeling won’t be new
The wind blew me next to you.

    Sincerely the Best!

    P. S. I’m also in search of a publisher for my visual artwork and writing.
